Montpellier sits at the heart of the Mediterranean arc, halfway between Italy and Spain.

The Montpellier Méditerranée Airport is the 11th French airport and the 1st airport in Languedoc Roussillon. Six regular airlines (Air France, Alitalia, Air Arabia, Ryanair, Easyjet, Volotea) operate to and from it. In 2013, the airport features the following destinations (new destinations are likely to be available in 2015).

  • Paris Charles de Gaulle, Nantes, Strasbourg: 4 daily flights

  • Brussels, Casablanca, Nador: 3 weekly flights
  • Fes: 2 weekly flights

The airport is 10 kilometers from Montpellier center (15 minutes drive), midway between the town and the sea. Taxis, car rental and a shuttle service (11 times/day) are available. The cost of a taxi is around 25€, and the cost of the shuttle is around 5 €.

By Train

High-speed train(TGV): 15 direct high speed trains are operating daily from downtown Paris (3h ½) and 5 daily direct high-speed trains from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport (4 hours). The train station is located downtown Montpellier near the Corum and most of the hotels.

There are also direct trains to Barcelona, Geneva, Nice and Italy, Bordeaux, etc.

By road

Montpellier is linked to Paris by the A9 and A75 Motorways (aroud 700 kms). It is also linked to Italy, Spain, Switzerland.
